Arlington House Memorial

On the 11th June Gina attended a memorial service at East Finchley cemetery.

A memorial stone was unveiled in remembrance of all the men who died whilst living at Arlington House and are now buried in unmarked graves.

The service was attended by residents, past and present of Arlington House, representatives of the Aisling project and BBC Ireland.

The following poem by Patrick Kavanagh is inscribed on the stone:

"Many Irish boys made
Rowton (Arlington) House,
Camden Town
first stop from Mayo...
the soft voices of
Mayo and Galway
sounding in that
impersonal place
fell like warm rain
on the arid patches of
my imagination".
